People, Skills and EDI

Every part of the construction industry is desperate to attract new talent and to tackle skills shortages. And every part of the construction industry is also tasked with demonstrating the competence of its workers.

This demands a new approach to communications.

Recruitment and retention

According to the CITB, the UK construction industry needs to recruit over a quarter of a million additional workers to meet demand by 2026. There are skills shortages across all professions and trades in the built environment.

Property is also feeling the implications of Brexit, Covid-19 and the ageing workforce.

LMC uses its communications superpowers to boost clients’ recruitment and retention, and to improve understanding, knowledge and competence in the built environment.

An image problem?

We hear so often that "young people don't want to work in this industry." Not true. We have witnessed and been privileged to play a part in some very successful skills campaigns that prove otherwise.

We don't believe property or construction has an 'image problem', more a problem of 'image gaps'. The range of career opportunities in these sectors is exceptional, and there are very positive stories to be told about workplaces that prioritise training and development, inclusive cultures, health, wellbeing and jobs that change the world.

Understanding new generations

LMC is currently working with many employers, industry bodies and trade bodies on recruitment, careers and EDI (equity, diversity and inclusion) improvements, as well as helping with educational outreach and initiatives to boost technical understanding and competence.

Using our understanding and insights into the new communications approaches, media and messages preferred by Gen Z and future generations, we can help you get out there with the right offer, the right campaign and the right attitudes to attract the talent and industry leaders of the future.
